Today we arrived in Innsbruck Austria.  We were able to get into our room early so we left our bags and took
off for the city center.  We got there via a tram-system that was put into place during the Winter Olympics of
1964 and 1976.  Our hotel is actually a part of the Olympic Village, so it’s a little jaunt to the train station from
here, but the tram is great!   After a bit of a rest we decided to see the sights... our first stop was the
Spitalskirche. What a beautiful place (not in the ECHO book).  It was next to one of several palaces.  The
second stop was the Dom the Court Church called Hofkirche.  There are dignitaries buried there also 38
statues of knights who were significant in the court there. The organ there was magnificent.   Upstairs is the
Silver Chapel that houses a unique wooden organ.   Then Adam climbed this huge tower... too many steps for
me, and took some photos of the panoramic view.  Our third stop was the St. Jacob’s Cathedral; with the most
beautifully decorated organ I have seen on the trip yet.  Gorgeous!  I am hoping to go there for morning mass
before taking off tomorrow for a quick stop to Salzburg and then on to Vienna. This place is beautiful but quite
touristy. My feeling is that Austria reminds me a great deal of Italy... lots of religious artwork.  It seems much
more religious than anyplace we’ve been since the beginning of this trip.   I’m a little tired so I will cut this
short.  Besides tomorrow is a busy day.
